Cretan Autumn Flavours: From Vineyard to Kitchen
October is harvest time. Vineyards slow down, gardens change colour, pumpkins and walnuts appear on village tables.
At Eleonas, our kitchen shifts too — more earthy dishes, slow-roasted lamb with rosemary, sweet baked figs, fresh mizithra drizzled with honey.
Evenings invite long conversations by candlelight, perhaps a small glass of tsikoudia to keep the chill away.
Come taste Crete as it slips gently into autumn.
Prepare for Olive Harvest: What Makes Our Oil So Special
By late October, the olives start to darken, and there’s an excitement in the air.
Families everywhere prepare for the great gathering — ladders come out, sacks are stacked, and mills clean their stones.
Our own trees stand ready. Each branch carries stories of seasons past, rain and sun woven into their fruit.
In just a few weeks, guests at Eleonas will help us pick these olives. Will you be among them
